Nancy Gesimondo
Artist / Curator / Host & Producer of Access Studio Arts
Nancy Gesimondo is a mixed-media assemblage artist working with natural materials and recycled objects.
In 2020 and 2022 Nancy was awarded New Work grants from The Queens Council on the Arts and the New York Foundation of the Arts. These recent projects are a series of photographic images influenced by the tradition of pioneering eco-feminist artists who photographed themselves in nature. Landscape is presented in these images to convey a deeply rooted connection to and reverence for the the natural world.
These images shot at two toxic sites, the Salton Sea in Southern California and Dead Horse Bay on the Rockaway Peninsula in NYC illustrate her desire to promote awareness of the perilous state in which man has left the natural environment.
